The Top 50 most charted tracks of June on Beatport

Whilst sales charts give some indication as to what is currently hot in electronic music, which tracks DJs are charting might also be useful for seeing upcoming trends.

Beatport receives thousands of DJ charts a month from some of the most respected DJs in the world, and when you collate all that data, patterns begin to emerge. It differs from the Top 100 sales charts.

The reasons for this are unclear, but there are a number of explanations as to why the Top 50 most charted tracks might be different to the Top 50 most bought. DJs generally chart tracks that they are feeling or inspired by. This can be different to what they are playing in their sets. Sometimes a DJ might chart a track that they haven’t played yet, or have no intention of playing.

A DJ might buy a track because they feel the need to appease their audience, whereas a DJ will only chart a track that they love. A DJ might also chart an old track that they recently rediscovered, or a track from a genre they’re not known for playing. Arguably then, a DJ chart is a truer representation of a DJ’s personality because it goes well beyond their current purchases.

For the first time ever, Beatport is publishing the Top 50 most charted tracks from the last month. June’s Top 50 is full of tech house, techno, deep house, and house, with plenty of established names sitting alongside some hot newcomers.

Julien Chaptal’s nod to old skool house ‘Mamdaye’ is the most charted track, followed by Joris Voorn’s disco flavoured ‘Sweep The Floor’. It is summer after all.

There are also deep and dirty house tracks from Audiofly, Peace Division, and &ME. The top charted vocal of the month is Gramophonedzie’s eccentric Nancy Sinatra-sampling ‘Why Don’t You’ whilst the Henry Saiz remix of Guy J ‘Lamur’ wins the title for top charted progressive cut of June. And both Pryda and Riktam & Bansi prove they have staying power with respective cuts from April and February closing the chart.
